Workspace Signals: Tracking Buying Intent and Contact Changes

View as Markdown

Signals add a real-time layer of behavioral intelligence to your saved Workspace tables. Instead of just knowing who someone is, Signals show you what they are actively doing right now — so you can reach out at exactly the right moment.

💡 Note: Signals are available on saved Workspace tables. You cannot add signals to a preview table before saving.

What are Signals?

A Signal is a tracked event or behavioral change attached to a company or contact record in your table. Examples include a company posting significantly more job openings (a sign of growth), a contact being promoted, or a website seeing a spike in traffic (a sign of increased market activity). Signals give your outreach timing and context.

Credit Consumption

1 credit is charged per successful signal detected (for either a contact or a company). If no signal is found, the cell remains empty and no credits are deducted.

Please note that signals are table-specific. If the same contact is saved in two different tables and you run a signal search in both, you will be charged twice.

How to add a Signal column

  1. Open a saved Workspace table
  2. Click Add enrichment in the toolbar
  3. Go to the Signals tab
  4. Browse the available signals and click the + icon next to your chosen signal to configure it
  5. For filter-based signals (see below), select at least one filter value — this is required before you can run or add the signal. You can select multiple values; each one you pick becomes its own grouped column in your table.
  6. Select your time frame (e.g., detect changes in the last 6 months)
  7. Choose which data fields to include in the column (e.g., signal date, change rate, new jobs posted)
  8. Click Run signal to apply

When running a signal you can choose to: run it for all rows, run it for the first 25 rows, or add the column without running immediately.

Filter-based signals

Some signals let you narrow the tracked event down to specific filter values instead of just tracking it in aggregate — for example, Surge in Hiring by Department → Information Technology. Available filter values depend on the signal (departments for hiring signals, event types for News signals). Credits still work the same way: charged only when a signal is found, per filter value.

Available Signal types

💡 Intent (Bombora): Add from the Signals panel under the Intent category, then search and select the topics you want to track from the full Bombora topic list. Choose which fields show up in the column: signal date, previous week score, this week's score, and week-over-week trend. Costs 1 credit per topic per company signal found. Works on both Company tables and Contact tables (at the company level).

Each of these tracks company news, narrowed down to the event types you select as filter values.

💡 Filtering signals: Filter-based signals let you narrow the signal down to specific values (e.g., Surge in Hiring by Department → Information Technology) via a Filter field in the signal settings panel — each value you select becomes its own grouped column. Selecting at least one filter value is required to run or add these signals. Credit consumption is unchanged: you're charged 1 credit only when a signal is found.

Using Signal data to prioritize outreach

Once a signal runs, the new data appears as specialized columns in your table. The columns will show the signal date, the magnitude of the change (e.g., change rate percentage), and any additional fields you selected.

Recommended workflow:

  1. Run a Signal on your table (e.g., "Surge in hiring" for the last 3 months)
  2. Click the signal column header to sort by signal date — most recent signals appear at the top
  3. Use the Filter button to show only rows where a signal was detected
  4. Focus your outreach on the contacts or companies at the top of the filtered table

This approach ensures your sales energy is always directed toward the warmest accounts.

Tips

  • For SDR teams running expansion plays, combining "Headcount increase" + "IT spend increase" identifies companies simultaneously growing and investing — ideal targets
  • "Moved to a new company" is one of the most actionable signals — a champion who changes jobs is a warm introduction into a new account
  • Run signals on your first 25 rows before committing to the full table, especially for large tables, to validate relevance
