Opt-Out Contacts

View as Markdown

When an individual chooses to remove their details from Lusha's database, they become an opted-out contact. Once opted out, their data is suppressed and will no longer appear in search results, enrichment, or any Lusha output — even if Lusha previously held it.

How opt-out reports work

Opt-out reports are sent automatically — typically on a monthly basis — to a designated Admin on your account. Each report is delivered as a CSV and contains only the contacts who have opted out since the last report was sent. It is not a comprehensive list from the beginning of time.

To build a full historical suppression list, you would need to aggregate all previous opt-out reports you have received.

Staying compliant

The opt-out process is designed to support your privacy compliance obligations. When you receive an opt-out report, you should:

  1. Remove or suppress the listed contacts from your CRM and any active outreach sequences.
  2. Ensure these contacts are not re-imported or re-revealed in future exports.
  3. Archive the report so you can build a cumulative suppression list over time.

Get real-time opt-out notifications

Rather than waiting for the monthly report, you can receive an instant notification every time a contact opts out by setting up an Opt Out webhook. This lets you update your CRM or suppression lists automatically the moment an opt-out occurs.

See How to Set Up Webhooks in Lusha for setup instructions.
