# Available company filters for prospecting searches

> Retrieve valid filter values for industries, sizes, revenues, locations, SIC codes, NAICS codes, intent topics, and technologies for company search.

Use these filter endpoints to retrieve the exact values the API accepts before building a company search request. Passing values outside the API's taxonomy causes searches to return no results, so fetching valid options first ensures your queries work as expected.

All filter values returned here are intended for use in `POST /prospecting/company/search`.

## Available filter endpoints

## How to use these endpoints

<Steps>
  <Step title="Fetch valid filter values">
    Call the filter endpoint for the dimension you want to filter on. For example, to get the list of industries:

    ```bash theme={null}
    curl --request GET \
      --url https://api.lusha.com/prospecting/filters/companies/industries_labels \
      --header 'api_key: YOUR_API_KEY'
    ```

    The response is a bare array of industry objects, each with a `main_industry` label, a `main_industry_id`, and a list of `sub_industries`:

    ```json theme={null}
    [
      {
        "main_industry": "Hospitality",
        "main_industry_id": 1,
        "sub_industries": [{ "value": "Other", "id": 778 }]
      }
    ]
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the values that match your ICP">
    Industries are filtered by numeric ID, not by label string. Note the `main_industry_id` (and any `sub_industries[].id`) that apply to your target market.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pass them into your company search request">
    Nest the selected values under `filters.companies.include` in `POST /prospecting/company/search`:

    ```json theme={null}
    {
      "filters": {
        "companies": {
          "include": {
            "mainIndustriesIds": [1],
            "subIndustriesIds": [778],
            "sizes": [{ "min": 51, "max": 200 }],
            "revenues": [{ "min": 10000001, "max": 50000000 }]
          }
        }
      }
    }
    ```
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Text-search endpoints

Three filter endpoints use `POST` with a text query to search for matching values rather than returning a fixed list.

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash company names theme={null}
  curl --request POST \
    --url https://api.lusha.com/prospecting/filters/companies/names \
    --header 'api_key: YOUR_API_KEY' \
    --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
    --data '{ "text": "Salesforce" }'
  ```

  ```bash locations theme={null}
  curl --request POST \
    --url https://api.lusha.com/prospecting/filters/companies/locations \
    --header 'api_key: YOUR_API_KEY' \
    --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
    --data '{ "text": "Austin" }'
  ```

  ```bash technologies theme={null}
  curl --request POST \
    --url https://api.lusha.com/prospecting/filters/companies/technologies \
    --header 'api_key: YOUR_API_KEY' \
    --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
    --data '{ "text": "Salesforce" }'
  ```
</CodeGroup>

curl --request GET \
  --url https://api.lusha.com/prospecting/filters/companies/intent_topics \
  --header 'api_key: YOUR_API_KEY'
```
<Tip>
  Cache responses from the GET endpoints - industries, sizes, revenues, SIC codes, NAICS codes, and intent topics change infrequently. Refresh your cache weekly or when a search returns unexpected results.
</Tip>
<Note>
  SIC and NAICS codes provide more granular industry targeting than industry labels. Use them when you need to narrow your search to a specific sub-sector that does not map cleanly to a label.
</Note>
