# Engage Sending Limits by Email Provider

Each email provider imposes daily limits on how many emails you can send from a connected account. Sending above these limits can cause emails to be deferred, bounced, or flagged as spam. Use this reference when planning your Engage sequence volume.

## Daily sending limits by provider

| Provider | Daily limit (standard) | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Gmail (free) | 500 emails/day | Includes all sent mail, not just Engage sequences |
| Google Workspace | 2,000 emails/day | Shared across all senders in the domain |
| Outlook / Microsoft 365 | 10,000 emails/day | Per mailbox; lower limits may apply on new accounts |

💡 **Note:** These are provider-imposed limits, not Lusha limits. Lusha enforces its own sending caps to protect your deliverability - see [Email Limits Best Practices](/user-guide/performance-and-troubleshooting/email-limits-best-practices) for Lusha's recommended daily sending volumes.

## Recommended sending volumes for new mailboxes

Even within your provider's limits, sending too many emails too quickly from a new or low-activity mailbox will hurt deliverability. Follow this ramp-up schedule:

| Week | Recommended daily volume |
| --- | --- |
| Week 1 | 20–30 emails/day |
| Week 2 | 40–60 emails/day |
| Week 3 | 80–100 emails/day |
| Week 4+ | Up to your provider limit |

## What happens if I exceed my provider's limit?

Depending on the provider:

- **Gmail / Google Workspace** -= emails over the limit are deferred until the next day's quota resets. Sequences may appear paused.
- **Outlook / Microsoft 365** - you may receive a bounce with a 550 or 421 error code. The account may be temporarily throttled.

⚠️ **Important:** Consistently exceeding limits can result in your account being flagged or temporarily suspended by your email provider.

## How to check your current sending volume in Engage

1. Go to **[Engage](https://dashboard.lusha.com/engage).**
2. View the **Emails Sent** metric for today to see how many have been sent from your connected account at the top toolbar.
3. Adjust your sequence schedule if you're approaching your provider's limit.
